Diane
Dávalos, MAT, MA, PhD (ABD), started Expanded Learning
on a dream. She had discovered the truth of
"Aprender
un nuevo idioma
es ganar una nueva alma"
To learn
a new language
is to earn a new soul
when she
lived in Mexico and learned to speak Spanish as an adult.
|
After
being selected for a teacher exchange program in Brazil, where
she lived with a family that had a small language school,
she returned, started a language school, and began to search
the best ways to learn a new language. After a year of searching
she determined that "suggestology" --generally known
as accelerated learning in the US --was the best way, so she
trained with all the experts, eventually including Dr. Lozanov
from Bulgaria.
She created
Expanded Learning, born of her studies with Dr. Lozanov and
adapted to fit the needs of US students.
Over the
past 20 years Expanded Learning has offered the opportunity
to "gain a new soul" to hundreds of organizations
and thousands of individuals around the world.
Ms. Dávalos
has presented to professional groups throughout the U.S. and
in Mexico, France, Austria, Brazil, Argentina, Canada, and
Switzerland.
She has produced tapes for learning Spanish, written professional
articles such as Suggestology and the Emerging New Sciences,
Activities to Expand Learning for teachers, and many stories
for teaching Spanish, including:
El elefante constipado
Hijos del sol
La nueva vida
For health care professionals
Guess who's coming to Dinner
For restaurants
Hablemos el mismo idioma For MTV
El mito magnífico de Manuel y su manguera mágica
For Gates Rubber Co.
Her greatest
joy is seeing students begin to relax, have fun, gain confidence,
and start communicating in a new language.

Our
Vision
A world
in which harmonious communication, natural learning, and unbounded
creativity are enjoyed by every man, woman, and child throughout
their life.
|
Our
Purpose
To research
best learning strategies and translate them into training
individuals and organizations.
Since
cutting edge learning techniques are our core and languages
our content, students find that they receive two benefits:
a new language and renewed confidence and joy in the learning
process. Thus, participants of Expanded Learning program expand
their sense of who they are and what they can do.
